It was a gold rush town. The diggings in the creek remain and a new gold mine has opened. The pub uses an old railway carriage for accommodation, but the recreation reserve (by donation for up to three nights) was where I stayed. So much space for just me and Bertha!

I spent a week moving between art exhibitions in Sydney and Canberra on my way to Araluen, on the way spending two nights at Santi Forest Monastery, chilling and catching up with friends. The nights were cold, but I was warm enough inside two sleeping bags. I didn't take a single photo, but I still knew where I was in relation to other places. |
